Albania’s producer price index dips in Q2

TIRANA, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) — Albania’s Industrial Producer Price Index (PPI) recorded an annual growth of 1.7 percent in the second quarter (Q2), according to a report released by the country’s Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) on Wednesday.
This figure represents a significant decline from the same period last year, when the annual growth rate reached 6.9 percent, according to INSTAT’s data.
The largest annual price increase was recorded in the sector covering electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning, which rose by 5.3 percent. The manufacturing sector saw a growth rate of 0.4 percent, followed closely by the sector of water supply, treatment activities, and waste management, which saw a growth of 0.3 percent.
In the second quarter, the PPI increased by 0.1 percent on a quarterly basis.
The mining and quarrying sector experienced the highest quarterly PPI increase at 0.7 percent. In contrast, the manufacturing sector reported a 0.2-percent quarterly decrease. ■
